Further, Brian has released a comedy album, Live in Nerd Rage (2006).

Mortified has been hailed as a "cultural phenomenon" by Newsweek, and celebrated by This American Life, The Today Show, The Onion AV Club, Esquire, Entertainment Weekly, and Daily Candy. The show is a comic excavation of teen angst artifacts (journals, letters, poems, lyrics, home movies, stories, and more) as shared by their original authors before total strangers. As the largest and longest-running project of its kind, its grassroots comedy collective has spent years sifting through hundreds of otherwise forgotten notebooks on a mission to celebrate the extraordinary lives of ordinary people. Mortified is co-produced in New York by Brandy Barber & Anne Altman.

If you aren't going to have a traditional Christmas Eve, why not spend it laughing with "chosen chicks" whose motto is Faster, Pussycat! Kvetch! Kvetch! The official description:
"Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad are going get jew, sucka. These badass balabustehs of comedy, music and show-stopping burlesque are coming to Comix for their 6th annual Xmas Eve bash. These are the gals who learned to smoke at Hebrew School, got drunk at their Bat-Mitzvahs, and would rather have more schtuppa than the chupah, featuring performers seen on Comedy Central, HBO, and Late Night TV. These chosen chicks boldly dare to deconstruct years of tradition, expectations, and guilt in a fast-paced vaudeville extravaganza. Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen gets remixed, dreidals tap dance, and we all find out what’s in gefilte fish (Fear Factor for Jews).
"Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad has been spreading their own brand of nuevo schmaltz across the land to sold-out crowds in NYC, DC, Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, Providence, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Pittsburgh, Madison, Detroit, Montreal, Burlington, Provincetown, The Berkshires, The Hamptons, and, of course, The Catskills. Audiences can’t get enough of these wayward girls!"

Wednesday December 24 at 7:00 pm & 9:30 pm at Comix, 353 West 14th Street
(between 8th & 9th Avenues)
Patrice Oneal got his start at a place called Estelle's in Boston. He was heckling a comic, and the comic suggested maybe Patrice thought he could do better. Patrice did; and the following week he went on stage at Estelle's and brought down the house. From there he went on to work at the Comedy Connection, then moved to working at most of the clubs in and around Boston, New England, and New York.
Patrice has a wide range of comic tools. In one bit, Patrice, at 6'5'' and 300+ lbs., makes the audience hear and almost see the story of the eastern European gymnast quietly speaking of her difficult upbringing and training. The Boston Globe wrote, "It is a hilarious piece made all the more so by the contradiction between Oneal's very visible presence and that of the young white girl he is playing."
Patrice has done half-hour comedy specials for HBO, Comedy Central, and Showtime; was a regular on Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn; and was a cast member on FOX's The Jury. He's also performed repeatedly on Late Show with Conan O'Brien, and at the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs and HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen; and has guest starred on such TV shows as NBC's The Office and FOX's Arrested Development.
Further, Patrice has acted in such hit movies as The 25th Hour, In the Cut, and Head of State.
Asked to whom he aspires, Patrice Oneal mentions only two names: George Carlin and Richard Pryor. Carlin for his distinct point of view and universal appeal; Pryor for his honesty, vulnerability and personal revelation.
This show is highly recommended.

$5 Discount on Tickets for Eastville Comedy Club
Finally—a bona fide stand-up comedy club in the heart of the East Village.
The Eastville Comedy Club is located at 85 East 4th Street (slightly west of 2nd Avenue)
under the famous KGB Bar. A relatively new venue that opened in summer 2008, Eastville typically runs shows every night consisting of a mix of mainstream and alternative comedy.
You may have never heard of the the opening acts, but the headliners are sharp NYC comics who've performed on David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Last Comic Standing, 30 Rock, Comedy Central, etc. To find out who's playing tonight and/or on upcoming evenings, please simply click here.
The showroom consists of a spare but cozy space with red-cushioned chairs, small black tables, and candle lighting. It can comfortably seat over 100 audience members, so you're likely to get in whenever you feel like dropping by for laughs.
Tickets are normally $15 each for weeknight shows and $20 for weekend shows. However, you can save $5—that is, get tickets for $10 each on weeknights and $15 on weekends—by mentioning HyReviews.com when paying at the door or making reservations via phone number (212) 260-2445.
Please note that on top of the cover charge, every show has a two-drink minimum. The least expensive items on the menu are beer, juice, and soda for $5 each. Therefore, with tax and tip, figure on paying at least $13 in addition to the ticket price.
Food (burgers, buffalo wings, etc.) is also available. Ordering food doesn't count towards meeting the two-drink minimum; but if you want a full dinner while enjoying comedy, it's yours for the asking.
While this offer is available, you can use the HyReviews.com $5 discount code for as many tickets as you like and for as many shows as you like. Please just keep in mind that the two-drink minimum still applies to every person attending.
Eastville is a promising new venue that provide a genuine comedy club experience in an East Village neighborhood. If you visit the show schedule and spot a headliner you'd like to see, come and give Eastville a try.
50% Discount on Tickets for Broadway Comedy Club
The Broadway Comedy Club is located at 318 West 53rd Street (between 8th & 9th Avenues).
The club revolves around lineups—that is, a series of comics performing in a 90-minute slot—rather than stars doing solo shows. And the patrons are mostly tourists, so the comics tend to perform material sufficiently universal to be entertaining to folks from anywhere in the world—for example, there's a lot of playing around with the audience, broad ethnic humor, relationship jokes, etc. In other words, it's an old-school approach (as opposed to, say, edgy East Village comedy); but the audiences I saw when visiting seemed to have a good time with it. Also, the service is efficient and friendly across the board (the waitresses are especially nice).
The club houses three comedy rooms:
The lighting in all three rooms is low and intimate, with candles scattered around the tables.
The club has a variety of shows, but its most popular ones tend to be The Best of Broadway, TV Headliner Showcase, and Industry Showcase (all in the main showroom).
Every show has both a cover price and a two-drink minimum. Beers are $8. However, you can alternatively order juice, soda, coffee, or a "New York Energy Drink" for $5; so if you stick with the lowest-priced choices, your two drinks will end up costing only $13 (including tax & tip).
As for the cover, ticket prices typically range from $10 for lounge shows to $20 for main showroom shows. But the club is currently offering a half-price sale on all tickets for HyReviews.com readers.
To take advantage of this offer, please visit the club's Web site by clicking here; choose the show you want to see (paying special attention to the performer list, because you might spot one of your favorites); call (212) 757-2323 to purchase the tickets; and mention you want the 50% discount on tickets as a reader of HyReviews.com. (For example, a $20 ticket will be $10, two $20 tickets will be a total of $20, and so on.)
Alternatively, simply show up to purchase your tickets at the door and mention the HyReviews.com offer to receive the 50% discount.
While this offer is available, you can use it for as many tickets as you like and for as many shows as you like. Please just keep in mind that the two-drink minimum still applies to every person attending.
